What’s It All About?

This is an exciting time for Boston as our town is set to benefit from further multi-million pound government funding.

This new funding is in addition to the funding that is already being invested in Boston in exciting projects such as the Mayflower, the transformation of Rosegarth Square, the refurbishment of the Geoff Moulder Leisure centre, and much more.

Through the government’s Plan for Neighbourhoods, it has been confirmed that Boston will receive up to £20M over the next 10 years, starting from 2036.

Together with the community, we need to decide how to invest this funding and bring improvements that realise our community’s potential, benefitting all of us who live, work, visit, and care about Boston.

We have lots of potential to make a difference with this funding as it can be invested in a whole range of things that meet the Plan for Neighbourhoods goals of thriving places, stronger communities, and taking back control.

We can come up with projects under themes such as safety and security – something we know is important to local people; also regeneration, heritage, housing, health and wellbeing, transport, education, work, and more.

What You’ve Told Us

  • People would like to see a cleaner, tidier and smarter town; a thriving, vibrant Boston;
  • 63% of survey respondents would like to see the fixing up and improvement of the town’s historic sites and buildings;
  • And, just over half (54%) would like improvements to public spaces;
  • The consultation also found that people would like to be able to enjoy Boston safely and securely, with concerns raised around crime and anti-social behaviour in the town;
  • The survey also showed that people would like to see investment in community facilities and resources;
  • And, there was also feedback that it could be easier to get around Boston.

Last year, we carried out consultation to understand what matters to local people. We wanted to know what people like, their priorities for investment, and ideas for improvements.

We heard from 324 people through a survey. Plus, we held feedback sessions with young people, and an interactive feedback walkabout. We also talked to council members, stakeholders, and businesses.

We found out that people think Boston’s rich history is what makes the town brilliant now, but people also want to see improvements that will create a safer, thriving, vibrant experience for all.

This was just the start of our engagement with the community.
